子らがこのような五つのことがらによって東方（ひがしのかた）、すなわち父母に奉仕するならば、父母もまた五つのことがらによって子らを慈しむ。かくして、その東方は覆われ、安穏にして恐れなきものとなる。
家長の子よ、弟子（アンテヴァーシン）は五つのことがらによって南方（みなみのかた）、すなわち師（アーチャリヤ）に奉仕すべきである。——起立してお迎えし、給仕し、謹んでみ言葉に耳を傾け、身の回りのお世話をし、そして心を尽くして技術・学問を受け学ぶこと、これである。
弟子がこのような五つのことがらによって南方、すなわち師に奉仕するならば、師もまた五つのことがらによって弟子を慈しむ。すなわち、弟子をよく薫陶して錬磨し……
