「そして、私が身につけているのと同じ種類の衣を用意しなさい」と言った。しかるに、その布施（ダーナ）においては、粗末な糠粥（かぬかゆ）に偽の黒胡椒を添えたものが食として施され、房の結ばれた粗布の衣が与えられた。「承知いたしました」と、青年ウッタラはパーヤーシ王侯に答え、パーヤーシ王侯自身が食するのと同じ種類の食を用意した。
かくして、パーヤーシ王侯は、不敬の心をもって布施を行い、自らの手によらずして布施を行い、心を込めることなく布施を行い、捨て与えるがごとくに布施を行った。その身の壊れるにしたがい、死後、彼は四大王衆天（しだいおうしゅうてん）の神々とともにあることを得たが、その生まれた処はシリーサ材の虚ろな宮殿であった。
されど、その布施を取り仕切った青年ウッタラは……
