澄み渡り、濁りなし。師（さとれる者）は五百余名の弟子たちの心を知り、慧眼（けいがん）ある覚者（かくしゃ）がそれを見定めたとき、かれらに智（ち）が現れた。そこで師（さとれる者）は、教え（サーサナ）を愛する弟子（サーヴァカ）たちに呼びかけた。
「天の衆（てんのしゅう）があまねく現れた。比丘（びく）たちよ、かれらを知れ。われは順を追って偈（げ）をもって、かれらを汝らのために讃えん。」
