‘None other than the Blessed One’s instruction! None other than the Holy One’s instruction! 「世尊（ブッダ）の御教え以外にはございません！善逝（スガタ）の御教え以外にはございません！尊師よ、私がかの御方（世尊）に対して一心不乱の浄信を抱いた、その日より以来、私は悪趣（アヴィニパータ）に堕することなく、悪趣に生まれることはないと知っております。されど、一来果（サカダーガーミター）を得ることへの希望はいまだ私のうちに留まっております。尊師よ、今しがた私はヴェッサヴァナ大王よりヴィルーラカ大王のもとへ、ある用向きを帯びて遣わされておりました。その途上にて、私は世尊が、マガダ国（マーガダカ）の在家信者たちのことを御心に掛け、深く思念され、全意識を集中して御座しになるところを、ギンジャカーヴァサタ（煉瓦堂）にお入りになった御姿でお見かけいたしました。しかしながら、このことは何ら不思議なことではなく——」
