So that’s what he did. Then King Mahāsudassana thought, ‘Why don’t I appoint bath attendants to help bathe the people who come to bathe in the lotus ponds?’ So that’s what he did. かくて大善見王は、蓮池のほとりに沐浴の係の者どもを配して、沐浴に訪れる人々の世話をさせることを思い立たれた。すなわち「いかがであろうか、これらの蓮池のほとりに沐浴係の者を置き、訪れ来る人々を沐浴させてはどうであろうか」と。かくてまことに王はそのとおりになされた。
次いで大善見王はまた思い立たれた。「いかがであろうか、これらの蓮池のほとりに布施処（ふせしょ）を設け、食を求める者には食を、飲を求める者には飲を、衣を求める者には衣を、乗り物を求める者には乗り物を、臥具を求める者には臥具を、婦人を求める者には婦人を、金貨を求める者には金貨を、金塊を求める者には金塊を、それぞれ得られるようにしてはどうであろうか」と。
するとそのとき、バラモンたちや長者（がしゃ）たちが豊かな財宝を携えて王のもとに参上し、こう申し上げた。「大王よ、これらの財宝は……」
