For Realized Ones say nothing that is not so.” The lay followers of Pāṭali Village heard that he had arrived. So they went to see him, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him, “Sir, please consent to come to our guest house.” The Buddha consented with silence. Then, knowing that the Buddha had consented, the lay followers of Pāṭali Village got up from their seat, bowed, and respectfully circled the Buddha, keeping him on their right. 「なんとなれば、如来（タターガタ）は、真実にあらざることを説きたもうことなきゆえに」と。
パータリ村（Pāṭaligāma）の優婆塞（うばそく）たちは、「世尊がパータリ村にお着きになった」と聞き伝えた。そこで彼らは世尊のもとへと赴き、世尊を礼拝して、かたわらに坐した。かたわらに坐した彼らは、世尊にこのように申し上げた。
「尊師よ、どうか世尊は、私どものための宿坊（āvasathāgāra）にお泊まりくださいますよう」と。
世尊は沈黙をもって承諾された。
かくして、パータリ村の優婆塞たちは、世尊がご承諾くださったことを知り、座より立ち上がって世尊を礼拝し、右遶（うにょう）して世尊を右に保ちながら恭しく巡り歩いた。そして宿坊へと赴き、床に敷物を整え……
