「バラモンよ、これがその因であり、これがその縁（えん）である。それゆえに、その常施（じょうせ）なる吉祥の祭祀（やññа・やじな）は、三種の完成と十六の資具（しぐ）を備えた祭祀と比べて、労苦も少なく、準備も少ないにもかかわらず、より大きな果報をもたらし、より大きな功徳（くどく）をもたらすのである。」
「しかしながら、ゴータマ師よ、三種の完成と十六の資具を備えたかの祭祀と、この常施なる吉祥の祭祀とを除いて、さらに別に、それらよりも労苦少なく、準備少なく、しかも果報大きく、功徳大きき祭祀というものが、他にございましょうか。」
