‘There are some ascetics and brahmins who, while enjoying food given in faith, still engage in deceit, flattery, hinting, and belittling, and using material things to chase after other material things. 「また、世に一部の沙門・婆羅門たちは、信心から捧げられた食を受けながら、なお欺瞞を行い、おもねりを事とし、暗示によって利を求め、人を貶めることをもって、利によってさらなる利を追い求めるのである。沙門ゴータマは、かかる諂曲（てんごく）とおもねりの行いを離れておられる」と。――比丘たちよ、このように凡夫（ぼんぷ）は如来（にょらい）の徳を讃えるであろう。
中戒（ちゅうかい）の段、ここに終わる。

「また、世に一部の沙門・婆羅門たちは、信心から捧げられた食を受けながら、なお卑しき邪術（じゃじゅつ）によって邪命（じゃみょう）を営む者たちがいる」――
