In times to come there will be lambs of the flock wearing a scrap of ocher cloth, unethical and of bad character. People will give gifts to those unethical people in the name of the Saṅgha. Then too, I say, a religious donation bestowed on the Saṅgha is incalculable and immeasurable. 「アーナンダよ、未来の世には、名ばかりの出家者（ゴートラブー）が袈裟の切れ端を首にかけながら、戒を破り、悪しき法を持つ者となるであろう。人々はそのような破戒の者どもを相手にしても、僧伽（サンガ）の名において布施を施すであろう。その場合においても、アーナンダよ、わたしは、僧伽に向けてなされた供養（ダッキナー）は、計り知れず、測り難きものであると説く。しかしながら、アーナンダよ、いかなる意味においても、僧伽に向けてなされた供養よりも、個人に向けてなされた布施の方が果報大なりとは、わたしは説かない。
アーナンダよ、供養を清浄ならしめる四つのあり方がある。その四つとは何か。
アーナンダよ、施す者によって清浄となり、受ける者によって清浄とはならぬ供養がある。アーナンダよ、受ける者によって清浄となり、施す者によって清浄とはならぬ供養がある。」
