Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā tadahuposathe pannarase komudiyā cātumāsiniyā puṇṇāya puṇṇamāya rattiyā bhikkhusaṅghaparivuto abbhokāse nisinno hoti. Atha kho bhagavā tuṇhībhūtaṁ tuṇhībhūtaṁ bhikkhusaṅghaṁ anuviloketvā bhikkhū āmantesi: “Apalāpāyaṁ, bhikkhave, parisā; nippalāpāyaṁ, bhikkhave, parisā; suddhā sāre patiṭṭhitā. その時、世尊は第四月の十五日、コムディー（Komudī）満月の布薩（ふさつ）の夜、比丘の僧伽（さんが）に囲まれて、露地に坐しておられた。世尊はひっそりと静まり返った比丘の僧伽をひとわたり見渡されたのち、比丘たちに告げられた。「比丘たちよ、この集いに糟糠（そうこう）なし。この集いは糟糠を離れ、清浄にして真髄に安立せり。比丘たちよ、この比丘の僧伽はかくのごとく、この集いはかくのごとくである。かかる集いは、神々への供物を受けるに値し、来賓への饗応を受けるに値し、布施（ふせ）を受けるに値し、合掌礼拝を受けるに値する。この世において無上の福田（ふくでん）である。
