「ダナンジャーニよ、汝はいかに思うか。親のためとはいえ、不正（アダンマ）を行い、邪な振る舞いをする者と、親のためであっても、正法（ダンマ）に従い、正しく振る舞う者と、いずれが勝れているか」
「サーリプッタ尊者よ、親のためであっても、正法に従い、正しく振る舞う者こそが勝れております。不正の行いと邪な振る舞いよりも、正法（ダンマチャリヤー）に基づく正しき行い（サマチャリヤー）こそが、はるかに勝れているのでございます」
「ダナンジャーニよ、他にも正当な生業（カンマンタ）というものがある。それによれば、父母を養うことができ、しかも悪業（パーパカンマ）を作ることなく、功徳ある道（プンニャパティパダー）を歩むことができるのである」
