「もし精進しなければ、真理に到達することはできない。精進するがゆえに、真理に到達するのである。それゆえ、真理への到達のためには、精進（パダーナ）が大いに資するものである。」
「しかしながら、ゴータマ殿よ、精進のためには何の法（ダンマ）が大いに資するのでしょうか。」
