So he went to the Maghadeva Mango Grove together with several disciples. “Please, student, let Brahmāyu come when he’s ready.” Not far from the grove he thought, “It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to go to see the ascetic Gotama without letting him know beforehand.” So he addressed one of his young students: “Here, young student, go to the ascetic Gotama and in my name bow with your head to his feet. Ask him if he is healthy and well, nimble, strong, and living comfortably. And then say: ‘Worthy
かくして彼（バラモンのブラーフマーユ）は、数人の弟子たちとともにマガデーヴァの芒果樹林（アンバヴァナ）へと赴いた。「どうか学生よ、ブラーフマーユが参る用意が整い次第、お通し申し上げるよう」と。
樹林のほど近くに至ったとき、彼の心にこのような思いが生じた。「まず事前にご連絡もせずして、沙門（サマナ）ゴータマにお目にかかりに参るのは、礼を失することであろう」と。
そこでブラーフマーユ・バラモンは、一人の若き学生に告げた。「さあ、若き学生よ、沙門ゴータマのもとへ参るがよい。参ったならば、わたしの言葉として、沙門ゴータマの御足に頭もて礼拝し奉り、こうお尋ね申し上げよ。『ご病気はなく、ご不調もなく、身軽にお過ごしであり、気力も充ち、安楽にお暮らしでいらっしゃいますでしょうか』と。そして、こう申し上げよ。『尊き方よ——』」
