夜が明けると、ボーディ王子は自らの邸宅において、精選された硬食と軟食を用意させた。また、コーカナダ（紅蓮華）の楼閣を、階段の最後の段に至るまで白絹の布で敷き詰めさせた。そしてサンジカープッタという若者にこう告げた。「さあ、親愛なるサンジカープッタよ、世尊のもとへ参り、時刻をお告げ申し上げよ。『尊師よ、時至れり。食事の用意整いました』と」。「かしこまりました」とサンジカープッタは王子の言葉を受け、世尊のもとへ赴き、時刻を申し上げた。その後、私は次第に旅を進めてヴァーラーナシー（波羅奈）に至り、かの比丘たちの群れのもとを訪ねたのである。
