「ちょうど、伏せてあるものを起こし、覆われているものを開き、迷える者に道を示し、あるいは暗闇の中に油の灯火を掲げて、眼ある者が形あるものを見られるようにするがごとく、ゴータマ尊者はさまざまな方便（ほうべん）によって法（ダンマ）を明らかにしてくださいました。わたくしはここに、ゴータマ尊者と法と比丘僧伽（サンガ）とに帰依（きえ）いたします。どうか、ゴータマ尊者のもとにおいて出家（パッバッジャー）を得、具足戒（ウパサンパダー）を受けることができますように。」
