And then Venerable Mahāmoggallāna, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, vanished from Jeta’s Grove and reappeared among the gods of the thirty-three. Then Sakka, lord of gods, with five hundred deities came up to Mahāmoggallāna, bowed, and stood to one side. Mahāmoggallāna said to him: It’s good to have experiential confidence in the Saṅgha: ‘The Saṅgha of the Buddha’s disciples is practicing the way that’s good, direct, systematic, and proper. かくして尊者マハーモッガッラーナは、力強き者が腕を伸ばし縮めるがごとく、たやすく祇陀林より忽然と姿を消し、三十三天の諸天の中に再び現れたもうた。すると天の主サッカは、五百の天衆を率いてマハーモッガッラーナのもとに近づき、礼拝して一方に立った。マハーモッガッラーナは彼に告げたもうた。「僧伽に対して体験に基づく信を抱くことは、まことに善きことである。曰く、『仏陀の弟子たちより成る僧伽は、善く、直く、理に叶い、如法なる道を実践している。それは四双八輩より成り……』と。
