「比丘たちよ、六つの性質を持つ比丘は、最上のもの、すなわち完成を実現することができない。その六つとは何か。比丘が信なく、慚なく、愧なく、懈怠にして、智慧なく、そして自らの身体と生命に執着している場合である。これら六つの性質を持つ比丘は、最上のもの、すなわち完成を実現することができない。
比丘たちよ、六つの性質を持つ比丘は、最上のもの、すなわち完成を実現することができる。その六つとは何か。比丘が信あり、慚あり、愧あり、精進し、智慧あり、そして自らの身体と生命に執着することなき場合である。」
