比丘らよ、六つの性質を具えた比丘は、いかなる証悟すべきことをも証悟することができない。それはすべて射程の内にあるにもかかわらず、である。六つとは何か。すなわち、ある比丘が、いかなる法が退転をもたらし、いかなる法が停滞をもたらし、いかなる法が勝進をもたらし、いかなる法が通達をもたらすかを、如実に了知しないことである。そして彼は、精勤に修行せず、相応しいことを行わない。比丘らよ、これら六つの性質を具えた比丘は、いかなる証悟すべきことをも証悟することができない。それはすべて射程の内にあるにもかかわらず、である。
