“Mendicants, there are these four ways of being inclusive. What four? Giving, kindly words, taking care, and equality. These are the four ways of being inclusive. 比丘たちよ、摂事には四つがある。何が四つであるか。布施、愛語、利行、同事である。これらが四つの摂事である。布施と愛語、ここにおける利行、そして世間の縁に応じてそれぞれにふさわしく平等に接すること――これらの摂事は、世の中にあって、あたかも動く車の轄（くさび）のごとくである。もしこのような摂事がなければ、母も父も、その子に対してなしてきたことによって、敬われ、礼を尽くされることもないであろう。
