Near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove. “Once upon a time, mendicants, Sakka, lord of gods, addressed his chariot handler Mātali, ‘My dear Mātali, harness the chariot with its team of a thousand thoroughbreds. We will go to a park and see the scenery.’ ‘Yes, lord,’ replied Mātali. He harnessed the chariot and informed Sakka, ‘Good fellow, the chariot with its team of a thousand thoroughbreds has been harnessed. 舎衛城のジェータ林の近くにて。「かつて、比丘たちよ、神々の主サッカは、御者のマータリに語りかけました。『マータリよ、千頭の駿馬を繋いだ戦車を整えよ。われらは園へ赴き、景観を楽しもうと思う。』『かしこまりました、主よ』とマータリは答えました。彼は戦車を整え、サッカに申し上げました。『御方よ、千頭の駿馬を繋いだ戦車の支度が整いました。どうぞ御意のままにお出ましください。』かくしてサッカは勝利宮より降り立ち、合掌を高く掲げました。
