It’s hard to gain a human birth; the life of mortals is hard; it’s hard to hear the true teaching; the arising of Buddhas is hard.
人間(にんげん)として生を受くることは難(かた)く、
死すべき者の命(いのち)を全うすることもまた難し。
真(まこと)の教法(きょうほう)を聴聞(ちょうもん)することは難く、
諸仏(しょぶつ)の出現(しゅつげん)もまた難しとす。
