第二禅（だいにぜん）に入り、そこに住する。
清浄を成就するための努力の要素とは、戒の清浄（シーラヴィスッディ）、心の清浄（チッタヴィスッディ）、見の清浄（ディッティヴィスッディ）、疑惑を超越することによる清浄（カンカーヴィタラナヴィスッディ）、道と非道に関する知見の清浄（マッガーマッガニャーナダッサナヴィスッディ）、修行の道に関する知見の清浄（パティパダーニャーナダッサナヴィスッディ）、知見の清浄（ニャーナダッサナヴィスッディ）、智慧の清浄（パンニャーヴィスッディ）、解脱の清浄（ヴィムッティヴィスッディ）である。
第三禅に入り、そこに住する。第四禅に入り、そこに住する。
一切の色の想（そう）を超え、障礙の想（しょうがいのそう）の滅尽によって、種々なる想に心を向けることなく、「虚空は無辺なり」と観じつつ、空無辺処（アーカーサーナンチャーヤタナ）に入り、そこに住する。
