かれはこのように思う。
九 九つのことがら
九つのことがらは多くの利益をもたらす……乃至……九つのことがらは自ら証知（さっちち）すべきものである。
九つの有情の住処（さったあわさ）
友よ、さまざまな身体をもち、さまざまな想（そう）をもつ有情たちがいる。たとえば人間、一部の神々（でわ）、そして一部の堕処（だしょ）の衆生がそれである。これが第一の有情の住処である。
友よ、さまざまな身体をもちながら、ひとつの想（そう）をもつ有情たちがいる。たとえば、初禅（しょぜん）によって初めて生まれ出でた梵身天（ぼんしんてん）の神々がそれである。これが第二の有情の住処である。
友よ、ひとつの身体をもちながら、さまざまな想（そう）をもつ有情たちがいる。たとえば光音天（こうおんてん）の神々がそれである。これが第三の有情の住処である。
