友よ、異なる身体を持ちながら、ひとつの想（サンニャー）を共にする衆生がいる。たとえば、初禅（パタマ・ジャーナ）によって梵衆天（ブラフマカーヤカ）に初めて生まれた神々がそれである。これが第二の衆生の住処（サッタ・アーワーサ）である。
友よ、ひとつの身体を持ちながら、異なる想を持つ衆生がいる。たとえば、光音天（アーバッサラー）の神々がそれである。——いかなるものが九つに分類された教えであるか。——これが第三の衆生の住処である。
友よ、ひとつの身体を持ち、またひとつの想を共にする衆生がいる。たとえば、遍浄天（スバキンハー）の神々がそれである。これが第四の衆生の住処である。
友よ、想（サンニャー）なく、感受（パティサンウェーダ）なき衆生がいる。たとえば、無想有情天（アサンニャサッタ）の神々がそれである。これが第五の衆生の住処である。
友よ、あらゆる色想（ルーパサンニャー）を完全に超え、障碍の想（パティガサンニャー）を滅し、種々なる想を……
