Yet somehow the dart of doubt and indecision still occupies my mind.’ They should be told, ‘Not so, venerable! Don’t say that. Don’t misrepresent the Buddha, for misrepresentation of the Buddha is not good. And the Buddha would not say that. 「しかるに、疑惑と迷いの矢（vicikicchā）が、なおも私の心を占め続けているのだ」と。
そのような者には、こう告げるべきである。「尊者よ、そのようなことを言ってはなりません。世尊を誹謗することなかれ。世尊を謗ることは善からぬことであり、世尊はけっしてそのようには説かれないのです。
友よ、これは道理に合わないことであり、あり得ないことであります――『我あり（asmī）』という慢（māna）がすでに滅し去り、『これが我である』という見解がもはや観じられないというのに、眼触（cakkhusamphassa）・耳触・鼻触・舌触・身触・意触を縁として、疑惑と迷いの矢が依然として心を占め続けるなどということは、断じて起こり得ないのです。
これこそは、まさしく出離（nissaraṇa）の道であります」と。
