Apissu naṁ, mārisa, amanussā rittampissa pattaṁ sīse nikkujjeyyuṁ. Santi hi, mārisa, amanussā caṇḍā ruddhā rabhasā, te neva mahārājānaṁ ādiyanti, na mahārājānaṁ purisakānaṁ ādiyanti, na mahārājānaṁ purisakānaṁ purisakānaṁ ādiyanti. ‘ayaṁ yakkho gaṇhāti, ayaṁ yakkho āvisati, ayaṁ yakkho heṭheti, ayaṁ yakkho viheṭheti, ayaṁ yakkho hiṁsati, ayaṁ yakkho vihiṁsati, ayaṁ yakkho na muñcatī’ti. 空の鉢をその者の頭の上に伏せて置くがよい。なぜならば、善き友よ、非人（ひにん）の中には、荒々しく、残忍で、粗暴なる者どもがおり、かれらは大王（だいおう）の命にも従わず、大王の臣下の命にも従わず、また臣下の臣下の命にも従わないからである。「この夜叉（やっしゃ）がわれを捕らえた、この夜叉がわれに憑いた、この夜叉がわれを悩ます、この夜叉がわれを苦しめる、この夜叉がわれを傷つける、この夜叉がわれを害する、この夜叉がわれを放さぬ」と言われるような者どもである。善き友よ、かれらこそ、大王に叛逆する（はんぎゃくする）者どもと呼ばれる。たとえば、善き友よ、マガダ国の王の領土における盗賊どもが、王の命に従わぬごとく——
