He places his foot on the ground evenly, raises it evenly, and touches the ground evenly with the whole sole of his foot. Possessing this mark, if he stays at home he becomes a wheel-turning monarch. And what does he obtain as Buddha? He can’t be stopped by any foe or enemy whether internal or external; nor by greed, hate, or delusion; nor by any ascetic or brahmin or god or Māra or divinity or by anyone in the world. 彼は足を大地に平らに置き、平らに持ち上げ、足の裏全体をもって大地に平らに触れる。この相（ラクカナ）を具えた者が、もし在家にとどまるならば、転輪聖王（チャッカヴァッティ）となる——法（ダンマ）によって治める法王として、四方を征し、勝利を収め、国土の安定を得て、七宝（サッタラタナ）を具備した王となるのである。では、仏陀（ブッダ）となった場合には何を得るのか。内なる敵にも外なる敵にも、いかなる怨敵にも動かされることなく、また貪り（ラーガ）・瞋り（ドーサ）・迷い（モーハ）によっても、いかなる沙門（サマナ）・婆羅門（バラモン）・天（デーヴァ）・魔（マーラ）・梵天（ブラフマー）によっても、世において何者によっても、妨げられることがない。仏陀となった者は、かくのごときものを得るのである」と。
