その説明に耳を傾けた者は、清らかな心をもって教えの意義を聞き取った。かくして智慧（パンニャー）を獲得する業（カンマ）によって、人として生まれたるとき、その肌は細やかであった。生まれたるとき、相（ニミッタ）に通じた占相師たちは予言した。「この方は細やかな事柄を洞察されるであろう」と。
十三、黄金の肌の相
「比丘（びく）たちよ、如来（タターガタ）は過去のある生において、人として生まれたとき、怒ることなく、苦悩することも少なかった。たとえ激しく批判されることがあっても、怒りに駆られることなく、腹立つことなく、敵意を抱くことなく、頑なになることもなく、また怒りや憎しみや不満の情を表に出すことはなかった。かつて如来は、柔らかく、しなやかな敷物や衣（ころも）といった精巧な品々を施し与えた——」
