A mendicant who is perfected—with defilements ended, who has completed the spiritual journey, done what had to be done, laid down the burden, achieved their heart’s goal, utterly ended the fetter of continued existence, and is rightly freed through enlightenment—can’t transgress in nine respects. 友よ、かの比丘（びく）——漏（ろ）尽きて、修行を完成し、なすべきことをなし終え、重荷を下ろし、真の目的を達し、存在への結縛（けつばく）を余すところなく断じ、正しき智慧（ちえ）によって解脱した阿羅漢（あらかん）なる者——は、九つの事柄を犯すことあたわず。
友よ、漏（ろ）尽きたる比丘は、故意に生き物の命を奪うことあたわず。漏尽きたる比丘は、与えられていないものを盗もうとする意図をもって取ることあたわず。漏尽きたる比丘は、淫事（いんじ）を行うことあたわず。漏尽きたる比丘は、意図的に虚偽を語ることあたわず。漏尽きたる比丘は、かつて在家（ざいけ）の者であったときのように、みずからの享楽のために財物を蓄えることあたわず。
