そのとき、ヴァーセッタよ、他のある衆生がその衆生のもとに近づき、近づいてからその衆生にこのように言った。
九 稲の分配
そのとき、ヴァーセッタよ、衆生たちは集まり、集まってから嘆き悲しんだ。
「ああ、実に悪しき法（ダンマ）が衆生たちの間に現れてしまった。」
われらのうちに悪しく不善なる法（アクサラ・ダンマ）が現れたがゆえに、地の甘露（ラサパタヴィー）は消え去ってしまった。地の甘露が消え去ったがゆえに、地の菌（ブーミパッパタカ）もまた消え去ってしまった。地の菌が消え去ったがゆえに、自然に実る莢草（パダーラター）もまた消え去ってしまった。莢草もまた消え去り、われらのうちに悪しく不善なる法が現れたがゆえに、今や稲の粒は糠と籾殻に包まれるようになり、刈り取っても元には戻らず、刈り跡だけが残り、稲は叢をなして立つばかりとなってしまった。
「さあ、われらは稲を分配しよう。」
