What skillful thing should we do? Why don’t we refrain from killing living creatures? Having undertaken this skillful thing we’ll live by it.’ So that’s what they do. Because of undertaking this skillful thing, their lifespan and beauty will grow. Those people who live for ten years will have children who live for twenty years. 「いかなる善いこと（クサラ・ダンマ）を行うべきであろうか。そうだ、われわれは生き物を殺すこと（パーナーティパーター）を慎もうではないか。この善き法（クサラ・ダンマ）を受け持って、それに従って生きよう」と。
かくして彼らは生き物を殺すことを慎み、この善き法を受け持ってそれに従って生きるであろう。この善き法を受け持つことによって、彼らの寿命（アーユ）もまた増し、容色（ヴァンナ）もまた増すであろう。
寿命が増し、容色が増すにつれて、寿命十歳であった人々の子らは、寿命二十歳となるであろう。
しかるに、その時代の人々は互いに獣（ミガ）の想いをもって相手を見るようになるであろう。彼らの手には鋭い刃（サッタ）が現れ、その鋭い刃をもって「これは獣だ、これは獣だ」と叫びながら、互いの命を奪い合うであろう。
