かくして彼は、その点において清浄である。
さらにまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者（タパッシー）は、利得・尊敬・名声への渇望ゆえに苦行を受持することがない。「王たちも、王の大臣たちも、刹帝利（クシャトリヤ）も、婆羅門（バラモン）も、居士（ガハパティ）たちも、そして諸々の外道（ティッティヤ）たちも、わたしを尊敬するであろう」と……かくして彼は、その点において清浄である。
さらにまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者はある沙門（サマナ）あるいは婆羅門を謗ることがない。「この者は何と豊かに生活し、あらゆるものを貪り食うことか。すなわち、根より繁殖するもの、茎より繁殖するもの、節より繁殖するもの、芽より繁殖するもの、種子より繁殖するもの——これらを第五として、また雷に打たれたもの、歯で砕かれたもの——これらをことごとく、沙門と称しながら」と。
かくして彼は、その点において清浄である。
