これもまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者の汚れ（upakkilesa）というべきものである。これもまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者の汚れというべきものである。
さらにまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者は苦行を実践する。彼はその苦行によって、利得（lābha）と尊敬（sakkāra）と名声（siloka）とを生み出す。そしてその利得と尊敬と名声とをよりどころとして、みずからを高く持ち上げ、他者を卑しめる。これもまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者の汚れというべきものである。
さらにまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者は苦行を実践する。彼はその苦行によって、利得と尊敬と名声とを生み出す。そしてその利得と尊敬と名声とに溺れ、迷い、放逸（pamāda）に陥る。これもまた、ニグローダよ、苦行者の汚れというべきものである。
