Taṁ kissa hetu? Ahañhi pubbe nāhosiṁ, somhi etarahi ahutvā santatāya pariṇato’ti. ‘Evaṁvihitakaṁ no tumhe āyasmanto adhiccasamuppannaṁ ācariyakaṁ aggaññaṁ paññapethā’ti? Te evamāhaṁsu: Tyāhaṁ upasaṅkamitvā evaṁ vadāmi: ‘evaṁ kho no, āvuso gotama, sutaṁ yathevāyasmā gotamo āhā’ti.
