バッガヴァ姓の遊行者（paribbājaka）もまた、低い座を取り、傍らに坐した。傍らに坐したバッガヴァ姓の遊行者は、世尊にこのように申し上げた。
「パーティカプッタは聞き及んだのでございます。無衣行者（acela）パーティカプッタよ、さあ出て参りなさい。高名な方々がすでに多く出向かれております――名高いリッチャヴィ族の方々も、名高い大富豪のバラモンたちも、在家の信徒たちも、さまざまな外道の沙門・バラモンたちも。沙門ゴータマもまた、あなたの園林にて日中の瞑想（divāvihāra）に坐しておられます。しかもあなたはかつてヴェーサーリーの集会において、このように述べられたではありませんか――『沙門ゴータマも、またわたくしも、ともに直接知（abhiññā）によって語る者である。直接知によって語る者は、同じく直接知によって語る者に対し、超人的な神通（iddhi）の示現をもって見せるべきである』と。」
