Pāṭikaputta is not capable of meeting the Buddha face to face, otherwise his head may explode. But Pāṭikaputta might meet the Buddha face to face in disguise, proving the Buddha wrong.’ ‘Sunakkhatta, would the Realized One make an ambiguous statement?’ ‘Both, Sunakkhatta. パーティカプッタは、その言葉を捨てず、その心を捨てず、その見解（ディッティ）を放棄せぬままに、世尊の御前に来ることは能わない。もし彼がその言葉を捨てず、その心を捨てず、その見解を放棄せぬままに、沙門ゴータマの御前に赴くならば、その頭は砕け散るであろう、と。「しかし尊者よ、もしパーティカプッタが変装して世尊の御前に現れたならば、それは世尊の御言葉が虚偽であることになりましょう。」「スナッカッタよ、如来（タターガタ）はいかなる場合も両様に解しうる曖昧な言葉を語るであろうか。」「〔いいえ、そのどちらでもありません〕、スナッカッタよ。なぜならば、リッチャヴィ族の将軍アジタが近ごろ世を去り、三十三天（の神々の群れ）に生まれ変わり、私のもとに来てこのように告げたからであります。『尊者よ、あなたはパーティカプッタの心を己の心をもって遍知（チェートサー・チェートー・パリチャ）されたうえで、かの御言葉を説かれたのでありましょうか』と。」
