「カッサパよ、糞壺は不浄であり、不浄と見なされ、悪臭を放ち、悪臭と見なされ、忌まわしく、忌まわしいと見なされ、嫌悪すべく、嫌悪すべきものと見なされます。」たとえば、族長よ、ある人が糞壺に頭まで沈んでいるようなものです。「まさにそのように、族長よ、人間どもは、神々（デーヴァ）にとって不浄であり不浄と見なされ、悪臭を放ち悪臭と見なされ、忌まわしく忌まわしいと見なされ、嫌悪すべく嫌悪すべきものと見なされるのです。族長よ、人間の臭気（マヌッサガンダ）は、百ヨージャナ（由旬）彼方にまで及んで神々を悩ませるのです。しからば、善いことをなして高き境涯に生まれ変わった、あなたの友人・同僚・親族・血縁の者たちが、わざわざ戻ってきてあなたに告げるでしょうか――
