そこで彼は上衣（ウッタラーサンガ）を広げ、その上に乾いた糞を山と積み上げ、包みに結び縛って頭上に載せ、そのまま立ち去った。道の途中で、大きな夕立雲が激しく降り注いだ。
「カッサパ尊者がいかにそのように説かれようとも、わたしはこの邪見（ディッティガタ）を捨て去ることができない。コーサラ国のパセーナディ王もわたしの見解を知っておられる。異国の王たちもまた然りである。怒り（コーパ）によってもこの見解を持ち続けよう、侮蔑（マッカ）によってもこれを持ち続けよう、嫉妬（パラーサ）によってもこれを持ち続けよう」と。
