「われわれが進んでいくところ、どこへ行っても、草や薪や水、青葉を瞬く間に使い果たしてしまう。いっそこの隊商を二手に分けるとしようではないか』と。」
「カッサパ尊者がそのようにおっしゃるとしても、私はこの邪見（diṭṭhigata）を捨て去ることができないのです。コーサラ国のパセーナディ王もご存知であり、他国の王々もまた知っております——『パーヤーシ王侯はかくかくの説を奉じ、かくかくの見解を持てる者なり』と。私はこの見解を、怒り（kopa）をもって、侮蔑（makkha）をもって、意地（palāsa）をもって、押し通すのです」と。
