So the youth said to his mother’s co-wife, ‘Madam, all the money, grain, silver, and gold is mine, and you get nothing. Transfer to me my father’s inheritance.’ “Even though the worthy Kassapa says this, still I think that ‘Well then, sirs, place this man in a pot while he’s still alive. Close up the mouth, bind it up with damp leather, and seal it with a thick coat of damp clay. Then lift it up on a stove and light the fire.’ They agree, and do what I ask. そこでその若者は、父の後妻に向かってこう言った。「奥方よ、この財産——金銭であれ穀物であれ、白銀であれ黄金であれ——そのすべては私のものであり、あなたには何ひとつ与えられません。父の遺産（dāyajja）を私に引き渡してください」と。
「カッサパ（Kassapa）師がそのようにおっしゃるとしても、私はこのように考えておりました。『さあ、者どもよ、この男をまだ生きているうちに甕（kumbhī）の中に入れ、口を塞ぎ、濡れた革で縛り上げ、さらに湿った土を厚く塗り固めよ。そうして竈（udhana）の上に載せ、火を放て』と。彼らは『かしこまりました』と承諾して、私の命じるとおりにいたしました。その男がすでに息絶えたと知ったとき——
