「いいえ、カッサパ尊者よ、それは正しくありません。黒と白の色形（ルーパ）というものは確かに存在し、またそれらを見る者も存在します。さて、あなたの友人や知人、親族や血縁者のうち、生き物を殺すこと（殺生）を慎み、与えられていないものを取ること（偸盗）を慎み、愛欲における邪なる行い（邪淫）を慎み、偽りの言葉（妄語）を慎み、穀物酒・果実酒・酩酊をもたらすものへの耽溺（飲酒）を慎んで善を行った者たちは、身体が滅びて死後に、善い境涯（善趣）なる天界（サッガ）に生まれ、三十三天（タ―ヴァティンサ）の神々とともにあるのです。それらの事柄もまた実在するのであり、それを見る者も実在するのです。ゆえに、『私はそれを知らず、見てもいない。ゆえにそれは存在しない』と語ることは、正しくないのです」と。「さて——」
