身体の接触から生じる感受（vedanā）も……心の接触から生じる感受も、この世において愛すべきもの、快いものと思われる。渇愛（taṇhā）はまさにそこに生じ、そこに住着するのである。色（rūpa）の想（saññā）も……声（sadda）の想も……香（gandha）の想も……しかして比丘たちよ、その渇愛はいかなるところに生じ、いかなるところに住着するのであるか。味（rasa）の想も……触（phoṭṭhabba）の想も……法（dhamma）の想も、この世において愛すべきもの、快いものと思われる。渇愛はまさにそこに生じ、そこに住着するのである。色に関わる意思（sañcetanā）も……
