I took my arched harp to Timbaru’s home, where I played those verses. “Pañcasikha, the sound of your strings blends well with the sound of your singing, so that neither overpowers the other. But when did you compose these verses on the Buddha, the teaching, the Saṅgha, the perfected ones, and sensual love?” “This one time, sir, when you were first awakened, you were staying in Uruvelā at the goatherd’s banyan tree on the bank of the Nerañjarā River. 私はベールヴァ材の黄白色の琵琶（ヴィーナー）を手に取り、乾闥婆（ガンダッバ）の王ティンバルの住処へと赴いた。そこに至りて琵琶を奏で、仏（ブッダ）・法（ダンマ）・僧（サンガ）・阿羅漢（アラハント）・そして愛欲（カーマ）を主題とする諸偈を唱えた。
するとティンバル王はこう語りかけた。
「パンチャシーカよ、汝の弦の音はよく歌声に溶け合い、歌声もまた弦の音に溶け合っておる。両者は互いに相手を圧することなく、見事な調和をなしておる。されどパンチャシーカよ、これら仏・法・僧・阿羅漢・愛欲を主題とする諸偈を、汝はいかなる折に作り成したのか」
「主よ、かつて世尊が初めて覚り（さとり）を開かれたその折、ウルヴェーラーのネーランジャラー河のほとりなる山羊飼いの尼拘律樹（ニグローダ樹）のもとに御滞在になっておりました。その頃、私はバッダー・スリー——」
