So the Buddha addressed Sakka in verse: “Ask me your question, Vāsava, whatever you want. I’ll solve each and every question you have.” The first recitation section is finished. Then Sakka addressed the centaur Pañcasikha, “Dear Pañcasikha, the Buddha is staying in the land of the Magadhans at Indra’s hill cave. そのとき世尊（ブッダ）は、神々の王サッカ（帝釈天）に偈（げ）をもって告げられた。
「ヴァーサヴァよ、汝の心に思うことあらば、何なりとも我に問え。汝のいかなる問いに対しても、我はその究極を示さん。」
第一誦段（パーリ：paṭhamabhāṇavāro）、ここに終わる。
さて、神々の王サッカは、ガンダッバ（乾闥婆）の神の子パンチャシカ（五髻）に語りかけた。
「パンチャシカよ、世尊はいま、マガダ（摩竭陀）の国、ラージャガハ（王舎城）の東方、アンバサンダーと呼ばれるバラモンの村の北、ヴェーディヤカ山のインダサーラ窟（帝釈窟）に滞在しておられる。パンチャシカよ、いざ、われらはかの世尊——阿羅漢（ārahat）にして正等覚者（sammāsambuddha）たる——のもとへ、まみえに参ろうではないか。」
「御意のままに、天帝よ」と、ガンダッバの神の子パンチャシカは答えた。そして、淡色のティンバ（timba）材で作られた、弓形の竪琴（ヴィーナー）を携えて——
