長部経典（DN21 §1.12.18–1.12.26）
so well-taught, realized by the Clear-eyed One. I was one who followed you, and my name was Gopikā. having heard the fine words of the noble ones. I’m now a mighty, dazzling son of Sakka, reborn in the Third Heaven. But you followed the best of men, and led the supreme spiritual life, but still you’re born in this lesser realm, a rebirth unbefitting.
いかによく説かれ、眼ある方（仏陀）によって覚り知られたことか。
かつて私はあなた方に仕える者であり、その名を「ゴーピカー」と申しました。
聖者たちの善き言葉（スバーシタ）を聞きおよんで。
今や私はサッカ（帝釈天）の威光ある御子となり、
大いなる光輝を帯びて第三天（ティディヴァ）に生まれています。
しかるにあなた方は最上の方（仏陀）に仕え、
無上の梵行（ブラフマチャリヤ）を修め行じながら、
なおもこの劣った境涯（ヒーナ・カーヤ）に生まれ落ち、
その生まれはまことにふさわしからぬものとなっています。
