Those monks grew keen, hearing the Buddha’s instruction. The army fled from those free of passion, Then, as easily as a strong person would extend or contract their arm, they vanished from the Pure Abodes and reappeared in front of the Buddha. they’ve straightened their own minds. 彼らの比丘たちは、ブッダの教えを聞いて、ひたすら精励するに至った。離欲（ヴィータラーガ）の者たちの前に、かの軍勢は逃げ去った。
さて、かの神々は、あたかも力ある人が屈めた腕を伸ばし、あるいは伸ばした腕を屈めるように、そのように——浄居天（スッダーヴァーサ）の神々のもとから消え去り、世尊の御前に現れた。
彼らは己の心を真っ直ぐに整えた。
御者が手綱を取るがごとく、
智慧ある者は諸根（インドリヤ）を守護する。
そのとき、また別の神霊が、世尊の御前においてこの偈（ガーター）を唱えた。
「杭を断ち、横木を断ち、
揺るぎなく、インドラの柱（インダキーラ）を引き抜き——」
