「一週間は、さほど長くはありません。その間、お待ちいたしましょう。」
さて、マハーゴーヴィンダ（摩訶護世）バラモンは、かの七人の大富裕バラモン（brāhmaṇamahāsāla）たちと、七百人の沐浴修了者（nhātaka）たちのもとへ赴いた。赴いて、その七人の大富裕バラモンたちと七百人の沐浴修了者たちに、こう告げた。
「諸賢よ、いったい私よりも、より大いなる権勢と利得を有する者が、他に誰かおりましょうか。今や私は、諸王の中にあっては王のごとく、バラモンたちにとっては梵天（Brahmā）のごとく、在家者（gahapati）たちにとっては神のごとき存在であります。しかし私は、そのすべてを捨て、家（agāra）を離れて出家（pabbajjā）いたします。梵天の語られるところによれば、在家にあっては、腐壊（putrefaction・無常の相）を鎮めることは容易ではないと、私はそのように理解いたします。ゆえに私は出家いたします——」
