The prince replied, “Who else, sirs, in my realm ought to prosper if not you? If I gain kingship, I will share it with you all.” In due course King Disampati passed away. “Yes, worthy sir,” replied the six aristocrats. 王子はこう答えた。「皆さま、私の王国において、あなた方をおいて他に誰が栄えるべきでありましょうか。もし私が王位を得るならば、その王国をあなた方とともに分かち合いましょう。」
やがて日々が過ぎ、ディサンパティ王は世を去られた。
「かしこまりました」と、六人の刹帝利（クシャトリヤ）たちはマハーゴーヴィンダ婆羅門（バラモン）の言葉に従い、レーヌ王のもとへと参り、こう申し上げた。「王よ、ディサンパティ王はすでに崩御なされました。あなたはいま王位に灌頂（かんじょう）を受けられましたが、かつてのお言葉をお覚えでございますか。」
レーヌ王は答えられた。「覚えております。しかしながら、この広大な大地を――北は広く南に向かって細くなるこの国土を――七つの等分に巧みに分かつことのできる者が、いったい誰にできましょうか。」
