「神よ、ゴーヴィンダ婆羅門には、ジョーティパーラ（Jotipāla）という名の学生の息子がおります。彼は父よりもさらに聡明にして、父よりもさらに物事の道理に通じております。父が人々に指し示した事柄も、ジョーティパーラ学生の教導によってこそ成就されましょう」と。「そうであるか、王子たちよ」「さようでございます、大王よ」
ディサンパティ王には、ゴーヴィンダという名の婆羅門の輔弼（ほひつ）の臣があった。ディサンパティ王の王子はレーヌ（Reṇu）といい、ゴーヴィンダ婆羅門の息子はジョーティパーラという学生であった。かくして、レーヌ王子とジョーティパーラ学生、そして他の六人の刹帝利（khattiya）、この八人は互いに友となった。
