The Lotus Pond of Principle stretched for a league from east to west, and half a league from north to south. It was lined with tiles of four colors, made of gold, silver, beryl, and crystal. It had twenty-four staircases of four colors, made of gold, silver, beryl, and crystal. The golden stairs had posts of gold, and banisters and finials of silver. アーナンダよ、法（ダンマ）の蓮池は、東西に一由旬（ヨージャナ）、南北に半由旬の広さを有していた。アーナンダよ、この法の蓮池は、四色の煉瓦によって築かれていた。すなわち、黄金の煉瓦、白銀の煉瓦、瑠璃（ヴェールリヤ）の煉瓦、水晶（パリカ）の煉瓦がそれぞれ用いられていた。アーナンダよ、この法の蓮池には、四色よりなる二十四の階段があった。すなわち、黄金の階段、白銀の階段、瑠璃の階段、水晶の階段である。黄金の階段には黄金の柱があり、欄干の笠木は白銀にて造られていた。白銀の階段には白銀の柱があり、欄干の笠木は黄金にて造られていた。瑠璃の階段には瑠璃の柱があり、欄干の笠木は水晶にて造られていた。
